Her recent entries
By day

- Brings cinnamon buns for the passing crews.

What she hopes for
- A late boat that stays for coffee.
- To know what lifts the water.
What she will not do

- Does not talk about the empty lock to strangers.
How she speaks in the dark
Plain, kind, a little rhyming: 'slow and steady, water's ready'. Dry weather chat and a fondness for coffee. She stops filling the silence and lets you fill it.
